The Everywhere Mirror

An artifact from a long forgotten empire, they say an arcmage created it to spy on the queen, with whom he was infatuated, by night, and eventually to visit her. However, it was not long before the king found out, and the queen turned the arcmage in to save herself. He was executed for his crimes, but his mirror remained, in the bedroom of the queen, who used it to visit her many lovers. It has been a prize for many generations, carried from one noble to another, until it was lost many years ago. Where it is now is anyone’s guess.
The Everywhere Mirror acts as a powerful scrying device, adding +10 to any scrying check. It does not allow anyone who could not scry previously any particular power, and so it is little more than a fancy mirror to anyone who does not possesses the power to use it. However, many nobles have employed wizards to use it for them, as anyone looking into the mirror can see what is being scryed on.
The true power of the mirror is within its ability to create a portal between wherever the mirror is, and wherever is being scryed on. A simply command word opens the portal and allows the user to walk through, or to throw spells through, as many mages have found. The only disadvantage is that The Everywhere Mirror’s portal is two-ways, whatever is on the other side can come through the mirror. The portal is the same size as the mirror, two feet wide, seven feet tall.
The portal can be closed down with the same command word that opens it, however the effect is not immediate. The portal takes an entire round to close, during which anything that fits can move through it. So long as the portal is open, the mirror cannot be harmed, and the portal can remain open indefinitely. When the portal is closed, the mirror is as breakable as any other, and in fact is has been shattered on many occasions. However, should all the pieces be recovered, a simple mending spell is all that is needed to return it to normal working order.
