The caster of this spell can peer into the recent past, seeing and hearing what happened earlier. While the caster is using this spell he enters a trance, and cannot respond to outside obstructions. The spell is broken if the caster takes any damage while in his trance. Once the spell is complete, the caster must roll a spellcraft check to determine how far back in time he sees. The caster may decide to limit how far back he views. So for example he can decide to only look back an hour in time, and no matter how far he overcomes the DC he will not look any further back than that. Similarly, the caster may decide to look at a specific time period, even if it is not on the chart below. So long as he reaches the next highest DC, he can decide to look at that specific moment in time. So, for example, the caster may decide to look back half an hour into the past, and so long as his spellcraft check is at least 20, he may do so.

DC 14 or lower: Less than ten minutes (less than the casting time of the spell.)
DC 15: Twenty minutes.
DC 20: One hour.
DC 25: Three hours.
DC 30: Twelve Hours
DC 35: One Day
DC 40: Two Days

The caster can view all events within the line of sight of where he is standing from the time he is viewing until the present. Note that the caster may not move in his vision, and sees only things that would have been within his line of sight from his current position. So, for example, if a wall was blown down a twenty minutes ago, the caster cannot see through it if he looks a day into the past. The caster receives and understands information at four times the normal pace. So, for example, a caster who looks twelve hours into the past only takes three hours to see everything that happened. The caster may terminate the spell at any time.
