The touched creature is coated with a unique form of energy. In the casting of this spell, the caster must also designate an object to be covered with the same form of energy, which is also touched. Anyone who has the selected object in hand can scry on the target without allowing a saving throw (though he still must be able to scry somehow.) Both the object and the target appear to be coated with a field of moderate enchantment magic when examined under a Detect Magic spell or similar magic.

Many mages use this spell on a ring, amulet or similar item instead of a creature. They can then scry on the object without alerting those present that their friend has been enchanted. However, this has the disadvantage that the object can be discarded.

Another noted risk is that this spell can work in reverse. The target can be used to scry on the object that is coated in the energy, allowing no saving throw to do so. To decrease this risk, most spellcasters who use this spell place their selected object in an empty room, so any who scry on it see nothing of value.
