Gronka
The Gronka are a race of creatures without a society or home. They are constantly forgetting their lives and purposes, and therefore end up grabbing onto whatever obsession passes their mind at any given time. At any moment a Gronka may be extremely interested in birds, then when it turns its head it may have forgotten all about them. Unfortunately, Gronka are inherently violent and tend to become obsessed with individual humanoids. The humanoid in question tends to be whichever one the Gronka sees at any particular time, though when a Gronka becomes obsessed with a humanoid it will stop at nothing to kill it. The Gronka focuses completely on the humanoid in question, remembering him more vividly than it does any other creature. Even when the humanoid is out of sight the Gronka stalks it, following it to the ends of the earth, never satisfied until it has killed its target. Strangely enough, once the Gronka kills its target it almost immediately forgets about it. It will no more remember killing the creature in question than it remembers anything else about its life, and it will soon begin stalking another humanoid.
Gronka have no language of their own. They do not have the memory needed to create any real language or to learn that of any other creature. They do, however, tend to repeat things that they hear, amused and fascinated by the words even if they cannot grasp the meaning. Some phrases stick with a Gronka and they begin saying them over and over in response to being spoken to. In truth these phrases do not mean anything, but the Gronka is trying to simulate conversation. Even telepathic creatures that can communicate with anything find speaking with a Gronka to be a trying ordeal, as the creature’s mind is too easily distracted to really reveal anything useful. A Gronka that is being mentally interrogated is more likely to begin talking about clouds or chairs than to respond to questions posed to it, even under torture.
Gronka appear as especially skinny humanoids. Their skin is tough, almost like leather. They have one, giant eye on their head and a tiny mouth filled with jagged teeth. Female Gronka are entirely white while males are brown. Gronka do not mate for life, in fact they only really interact with each other briefly. Because Gronka do not actively seek to reproduce their race is dying off, each generation sees fewer and fewer Gronka. Still, one lone Gronka is a significant threat to almost anyone.
