Created to bypass the inability of clerics to bring back creatures who do not wish to return to the mortal plane, Forced Return can forcibly return a soul to its body. In order for the spell to function, the target’s body must be mostly intact (enough so for a Raise Dead spell to work) and the caster must have the creature’s soul trapped in a Soul Bind or similar magic. Upon completion of the spell, the soul may make a will save. If the save is successful, the soul stays trapped in whatever vessel it is kept in. If the save fails, the soul is forced back into its body and returns to life, just as though a “Raise Dead” spell were cast.
Material Component: Jewel worth 1,000 GP per a hit die of the creature to be returned to life. Typically, the caster uses the same jewel that the soul is kept in, if the soul is being bound by Soul Bind.
