Intensivan

The Intensivan come from a dead world, said to have evolved in a barren wasteland with the simple goal of surviving. They are believed to be the ultimate survivors, capable of restarting their race from a single living member. More importantly, they are not evil, but are still known for being extremely dangerous to any non-Intensivan that they come across. Their purely survival-based instincts have made them exclude anything else, including the concept that other creatures deserve to live. They are not cruel or sadistic, they are simply uncaring about the lives of others.

Intensivan resemble large, globular spider webs, with a single large mass in the center. They attach themselves to anything that they can reach, trees, walls, cliffs, and once they are attached they are extremely difficult to remove. While many adventurers have mistaken the large mass in the center as a weak point, this is in fact simply the Intensivan’s egg sack. An Intensivan can survive without its egg sack, though destroying it without first destroying the Intensivan is extremely difficult. The sack is harder than iron, and cutting through the Intensivan’s protective layer of slime is difficult enough. However, even if the egg sack is breached, the Intensivan lives on. An Intensivan has no vital points, and only overwhelming force can finally kill it. An Intensivan’ egg sack contains four or five eggs at any given time, and an Intensivan produces about one every month. About once a year, an Intensivan will spit the egg out, and have it delivered to another location, usually by one of its followers (see below.) The egg takes a month to hatch, and after that it takes about another month to grow to maturity. If an Intensivan is killed, but its eggs are not destroyed, they will hatch in a month.

Intensivan’s main activity is eating. They eat anything, from dirt to stone to flesh. They digest non organic material at a slow rate, and an Intensivan can usually get through about a foot of stone a month. However, they can eat a human in under a minute, and can eat an entire field of crops in under an hour. As they eat they grow, gaining size categories (see “advancement” below.) Because organic material is easier to digest, Intensivan tend to seek it out, which has led many humans to their deaths.

Intensivan sometimes attract humanoid followers, who worship them as some incarnation of death, the apocalypse or something similar. Intensivan hold off on consuming some of these followers, as they can do work that the Intensivan cannot. However, Intensivan are notoriously untrusting towards others not of their kind, and tend to use their “Aspect of Intensivan” ability on as many followers as possible (see below.) Exceptions are made, however, and it is not unusual to see human followers protecting an Intensivan.

An Intensivan’s favorite class is sorcerer.

Devour: When pinning an opponent in a grapple, an Intensivan may begin to devour the opponent in the same round. During this time, the opponent takes 11d6 acid damage, and the Intensivan heals 8d6 damage. An Intensivan can completely devour a corpse in 5 rounds, and for every round it consumes the corpse, it heals 11d6 damage.

Shock: When in a grapple with an opponent, as a free action, an Intensivan can deliver an electric shock that deals 8d6 electric damage.

Poison Gas: As a full-round action, an Intensivan can release a cloud of poisonous gas. The cloud has a 25 ft radius, and has the following qualities: Inhaled, Fortitude DC 29, initial and secondary damage 3d6 constitution damage. The DC save is Constitution-based.

Scream: As a full round action, an Intersivan can scream and release a cone that deals 23d6 sonic damage (fortitude save DC 28 for half.) In addition, every creature in the cone is affected by the “demoralize” effect, as under the intimidate skill, by the Intersivan (the affected creatures must make a separate save for this effect.)

Aspect of Intensivan: A humanoid that willingly allows itself to be devoured by an Intensivan can be turned into an Aspect of Intensivan. One minute after being devoured, the Intensivan can release some of its goo and make a roughly, humanoid figure made from its slime. The Aspect of Intensivan is considered to be the same creature that was devoured, and even has its memories and abilities. However, it is not the same creature, just a copy produced by the Intensivan. In addition to the abilities of the creature, the Aspect of Intensivan has the following abilities: No Anatomy (as the Intensivan, see below), +4 to strength, +4 to constitution, and breath attack that releases a line of poisonous gas, fifteen feet long, that has the following qualities: Inhaled, Fortitude DC (10+1/2 the creature’s HD+ the creature’s constitution modifier), initial and secondary damage 1d6 constitution damage. The creature’s CR is increased by two.

Telepathy: An Intensivan can communicate with any creature within 100 feet that has a language.

No Anatomy: An Intensivan has no vital spots, and as such is immune to critical hits, death attacks or effects, poisons and does not sleep.

Alien Mind: If an Intensivan succeeds at its save against any ability that attempts to affect its mind, the ability is turned against the original creature, just as though it were being used by the creature in question, but under the control of the Intensivan.
